Tyler's story
“Several years ago I was lying in bed feeling sorry for myself. I had two painfully herniated discs in my lower back. I couldn't work, I couldn't walk, and I was unable to exercise. I weighed 218 pounds, and knew that according to the BMI scale, I was obese.
Not being able to do much else, I got my hands on a 1,000 page book entitled "The Encyclodpedia of Bodybuilding" by Arnold Schwarzenegger. I was captivated by the pictures and exercises. I was inspired! 'Maybe I could be a bodybuilder' I thought. I found myself dreaming of being on stage with hundreds of fans cheering for me. I couldn't stop thinking about it.
As I slowly began to regain some strength, I decided I needed a fitness goal. Why not try to bring my dream to reality? So, I hired a trainer and began the long arduous journey. It took years, months, weeks, days, hours, minutes and even seconds. I was on a journey that I have since found only few can travel. I learned about food, and I learned about weight training. I discovered the type of discipline and will power is required to fine tune the human body.
My quest became a 24-7 commitment. I couldn't have kept going to the gym without the amazing massage skills of Tylor Harris. He always patched me up; physically and emotionally. There were many times when I wanted to pack it in. But I didn't!
Finally, on Saturday October 16th, 2010, I stood on stage in front of a packed house of 850 appreciative fans weighing a trim, pain free 171 pounds. My original goal whas realized, i was here, on stage. next up, don't make a fool of myself. (Tylor never had much doubt by the way...)
To my sweet surprise, when the final judging was done and results were in, I had won my age class and took second in my weight class! I couldn't believe it! My dream had become a reality. I am now a bodybuilder. I now know, more than I have ever known, that dreams can come true."
